LOOPestra: an orchestra of guitar loops Despite what the multi layered sound might tell you, everything you hear from the Teddy Kumpel Loopestra on stage is played live. With innovative use of looping technology and his vast experience mangling vintage and modern sounds Teddy Kumpel effortlessly creates myriad textures that make you think there must be a whole slew of musicians hiding backstage. A veritable funkdafied psychadelic orchestra appearing as a rock trio! Joining Teddy every Monday @midnight at the Rockwood Music Hall are New York's best and brightest musicians. A different rhythm section every week. Shawn Pelton and James Genus who play on Saturday Night Live, Keith Carlock who plays with Steely Dan, Aaron Comess of the Spin Doctors, Tony Scherr and Kenny Wollesen of Bill Frisell's band, and world reknown musicians Tim LeFebvre, Henry Hey, Richard Hammond, Jonathan Maron, Mark Guiliana, Josh Dion, Bob Stander, Allison Miller, Rene Hart, Chris Morrissey, Jojo Mayer, Ben Perowsky etc... it's a rotating cast of NYC music stars. "It's all about building community for me" says Teddy. "I like to have the well known guys my age do it cause they're amazing and I've known them all forever, but equally, I like it when the really great young guys do it, like Aaron Steele and Adam Minkoff. People come out to hear the famous ones, but they also come out to hear what young ones are going to do. It keeps it interesting and real. I want everyone I feel a musical connection with to have a chance to play." Producer, Guitarist, Mixer Teddy Kumpel has been a sought after guitar slinger for artists including Rickie Lee Jones, Feist, Marshall Crenshaw and Chris Barron of the Spin Doctors as well as a respected producer/mixer in NY's fertile indie rock scene. Lately Teddy has been on fire with his trio, I mean... Orchestra, mixing his song writing, improvisations and deep funk pocket. The rotating cast keeps things fresh and showcases Kumpel's humorous lyrics, mad guitar skills and instantaneous production saavy.
