October is breast cancer awareness month & The Empty Glass is hosting a benefit this Saturday night. Please plan to come out & listen to some great music and raise money for an important cause.
The tentative lineup includes Dugan Carter & Full Flavor, The Spurgie Hankins Band, Nanker Phelge and Sasha Colette and cover charge is only $5!!!
This is a personal cause and my girlfriend would like to share her story here:
Hi! Most of you don't know me - my name is Martha Miller and I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002. After 8 years and no recurrences I thought I was in the clear; however, in July, 2010, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. While the prognosis isn't good for the long run, I was blesssed to go into remission after ten months of chemotherapy. I am fortunate to have health insurance...many others are not so lucky. Early detection is key and I would like to help those who don't have health insurance gain access to screening & treatment.
West Virginia Health Right Inc.'s breast health program provides access to breast education, clinical screening, and follow-up care to the women most at risk of not receiving these services: the impoverished, uninsured who lack the resources to pay for health care, diagnostic tests, or specialist care, all of which the clinic provides at no charge.
ALL proceeds from Saturday night's event will be donated to WV Health Right located on Charleston's East End. If you cannot attend but would still like to make a donation, please email me at marthamiller999@yahoo.com to make arrangements.
Thank you in advance for your support of this worthy cause! And let's kick cancer's ass!!!
