Founded in 1977 Chuck Biel’s School of Rock & Blues has trained musicians as sidemen for the worlds best bands and artists including Ray Charles, David Bowie, David Byrne (Talking Heads), Etta James, Olivia Newton-John, Keith Urban, Martina McBride, Bryan White, Meat Loaf, Missing Persons, and many more.

“JAZZ LAB ONE” is the “elite” class of the school, the cream of the crop of the seven student groups currently in session.

Performing music by Chick Corea, Jean-Luc Ponty, Wayne Shorter, and Frank Zappa, delivering surprising arrangements with rich orchestration.

FEATURED STUDENTS Guitar - Dillon Gaal. - Dillon is one of the newest and brightest young players to enter the scene for some time. Heavily influenced by everything, this intellectual guitarist pays homage to the music he plays.

Bass - Joey Lafferty - Joey is unquestionably one of the most solid Bass players in the region. His work with Trielement and others is a testament to his skill and resolve as a musician.

Keyboards - Sean Casey - Sean is a music Scholar, Composer and our local “Frank Zappa” expert. Sean plays many instruments and holds a degree in Theater Arts. STAFF MEMBERS

Trielement began in 2009 with an idea to take instrumental music, imagined with non-traditional ideas, and push the barriers of conventional music. The result is rhythmic madness and calm resolve blending blues, jazz, funk, and rock. Focused on building a strong regional following, the band spent the next four years touring and crystalizing its sound. Radio Free Charleston described Trielement as a “tightly run progressive trio” with “instrumental music that keeps your attention.” To solidify that sentiment, Trielement released its eponymous EP in 2013 consisting of two pre-Trielement songs written by guitarist Kenny Booth, and two songs composed by Trielement.

Extremely favorable response to the EP required that Trielement record a full-length live CD to expand on audience demands while capturing the energy of its live performances. Recorded at their hometown favorite venue on Mother’s Day 2014, the album is appropriately titled The Empty Glass Sessions. Indie label Empty Glass Records released the recording on Father’s Day.

The band members’ joy in their music is evident to audiences, a feeling they enjoy with the full support of family and friends. Their work has given them opportunity to open for international supergroup, The Aristocrats (Guthrie Govan, Bryan Beller, Marco Minnemann), and Nashville bassist/composer, Sean O'Bryan Smith, in 2013. Smith invited them again in 2014 as did international guitar virtuoso Neil Zaza.

These experiences have created a high for Trielement, but the guys are well-grounded and inspired to create a whole new set of material for a 2015 studio release. Trielement has a dynamic set of songs from pure melodic to intense grooves with an edge. Their style of music will appeal to those who like something a little different with a side of fun.
